Biography
Janet Yang is the founder of The Manifest Film Company where she has
produced films since 1996. Yang produced two films that were released in 2002: Carl
Franklin’s “High Crimes,” a taut military courtroom thriller starring Ashley Judd, Morgan
Freeman and Jim Caviezel (Twentieth Century Fox), and “The Weight of Water,” Kathryn
Bigelow’s tale of murder and betrayal, starring Academy Awardnominee Sean Penn,
Elizabeth Hurley, Sarah Polley and Catherine McCormack (Lion’s Gate Films
Releasing).
Yang has distinguished herself in Hollywood by working with some of the most
formidable directors in the world, and by discovering unique and often unheard voices
and stories, and bringing them to the mainstream.
Previous Manifest productions include the critically acclaimed films “Savior,”
starring Dennis Quaid, Nastassja Kinski and Stellan Skarsgard, and “Zero Effect,”
starring Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller. “Savior” and “Zero Effect” were released in 1998 by
Lions Gate Films and Castle Rock respectively. Yang also served as the Executive
Producer for two years running for the highly rated and critically acclaimed Lifetime
Women’s Film Festival, a collection of short films produced by women for the Lifetime
Channel.
From 19891996, Yang served as president of Ixtlan, Oliver Stone’s production
company, spearheading all aspects of the company’s development and production slate.
